Sweet Home Alabama and Other Joyous Tidbits

First-I'm back! I know, I know-I took a major month long hiatus from blogging. It honestly couldn't be helped what with all this work, niece F's baptism, Ma Holcombe's super secret surprise retirement party, and Mimi's funeral. The end of May and beginning of June has been a hell on wheels start to the summer. And while we are at it, let's add in a dose of "Congratulations on your promotion Omar, you're moving to Birmingham!". Yes, you heard me right. Our dream has officially come true and while we can hardly contain ourselves with excitement, we have lots to do to get this house sold and move on to bigger smaller and better things places. For real. We are moving from a place that looks like this:
To a place that looks like this:

And while most of you probably question why this is actually a great thing for us, just trust me when I tell you, without question, this is the best news we've gotten in our getting-on-towards-5 years together. The next best news will be the phone call telling us we have an offer on our house. Tick tock.

To further delve into why this is a good move, I present exhibit B. (And don't get offended, this man is awfully cute!) Currently our neighbors look like this:

Our new neighbors look a little more like this:
Helena, Alabama is, apparently, the #1 place in America to raise a family. But let's not put the cart before the horse here people. I am not subliminally trying to suggest the imminent arrival of child #1. I'm just saying. I don't have to dread the months of November-May. What a relief.

"Where will you paddle board?" "Where will you boat?" we have been asked. This may come to a shock to some of you, but the Atlantic Ocean is not the only body of water on planet Earth. The Earth is actually 2/3 water. Some of that water is located in *gasp* Alabama. There is a very nice Lake and the Cahaba River which we plan to enjoy on those hot southern days.

Here seems like a good place to also mention the "Northern Alabama Wine Trail." This sightseeing, sip tasting jaunt is being planned as we speak.

While we will, of course, miss the wonderful friends we have made the past three years here in Hell Florida, we are excited to be closer to family and our (ok, well MY) southern roots. Our friends are really the only people that have made living here bearable and we love them with all of our heart. *Insert shout out to aforementioned friends-you know who you are!*

There is lots of y'all, camo, NASCAR, Tide football, sir and ma'am in our future-yee haw!

PS. We are also signed up for the Las Vegas half marathon in December so expect some updates on training along the way. Omar is too, so expect some upcoming humor blogs as he trains along side me.

Until next time. (Yes, there will be a next time.)
